A call to worship

When Tim Blaber came to speak to us last, he spoke about the call on my life that I am primarily to be a worshiper. Above all other things, I am to be a worshiper. The interesting thing with words like this is that they don't always stay just with us, they can radiate out and become a call for the church.

Colossians 3:17 says "...whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."

As a church we encourage our families to grow stronger, our children to love God, our members to love their community and to share Jesus' love in those areas and so on. Ultimately though, our encouragements in these areas aren't founded on a list of things it is good for churches to do but instead on worshiping God. We worship God when we come together and sing in praise and worship, we worship God when we come to hear from His word. We worship God by trying to grow a stronger family because we seek to make Him known within that family. We worship God when we encourage one another to love our community, we worship God when we love people in our community as Jesus loves them. We worship God when we are obedient to what He is calling us to do. Do all things in the name of Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him...

Sometimes it is worth focusing on our call to worship God as our primary function in life. Sometimes it's worth focusing on the sung and played worship too! This coming Monday we are having an open worship night at the URC from 8pm. I'd love if you could join us, particularly if you possess a hidden singing or instrument talent that we could use. Here are the songs we'll look at:

Give thanks to the Lord
Light of the world
Great are you Lord

Please let me know if you're able to come and if you'd like words or chord sheets in advance. It's always good to try and be familiar with what we're singing at church!

With love

Craig
